Hanoi saw heavy rains on the evening of Lunar New Year, so local streets, including those around Hoan Kiem Lake, were quite deserted despite the fireworks spectacle that took place.
However, at midnight, the rains started decreasing in some areas, including Van Quan in Ha Dong District, where people flocked to see the fireworks.
Hanoi set off fireworks at 30 venues in local districts to welcome Tet, consisting of six high-altitude shows and 24 low-altitude performances.
Meanwhile, HCM City held high-range fireworks at Saigon River’s tunnel area in District 2 and Landmark 81 Building in Binh Thanh District and the low-range show at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11.
