Travellers are eager to experience double-decker train for heritage tour from Hanoi city to Bac Ninh Province.
After more than a month of operation, the double-decker tourist train “The Hanoi Train” will expand its route, offering visitors a deeper experience of Bac Ninh’s traditional culture and craft villages.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh Province, in coordination with travel agencies, is implementing the expanded route for the double-decker tourist train. In addition to the familiar stop at Do Temple, a special national relic honouring eight Ly Dynasty kings, the new route will take visitors to the Dong Ky relic cluster, renowned for its ancient religious spaces and centuries-old woodcraft traditions.
At Dong Ky, travellers can tour workshops, try hands-on crafting, purchase OCOP products, enjoy local cuisine, and watch traditional Quan ho (love duet singing) performances on boats-a cultural highlight of the Kinh Bac region. The addition of this stop is expected to enhance the train’s appeal, giving visitors more time to explore Bac Ninh’s cultural, artistic, and craft heritage while promoting the Kinh Bac region on the national tourism map.
To prepare for the official launch, the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested local authorities to invest in infrastructure, preserve relics, improve service quality, and coordinate the reception of the first trial tour. BHL Company, the product developer, will handle promotion and organise initial experience tours.
The double-decker tourist train officially began commercial operations on September 6. The train consists of five two-level passenger carriages and two check-in carriages, designed based on the image of Hanoi’s historic Five Gates. Each carriage has 40-60 seats, luxurious interiors, and large windows for sightseeing. Ticket prices range from VND 550,000 to 750,000 per person, depending on the carriage and services included.
The route runs from the Hanoi Railway Station to the Tu Son Railway Station with two daily departures: 8-11.30 am and 1.30-5 pm. Due to the impact of Typhoon Matmo, which caused severe flooding in Hanoi and Bac Ninh, the train temporarily suspended operations on October 6-7. Operations have now resumed, ready to welcome visitors.
