Danang opens tourism promotion office in South Korea

The central Vietnamese city of Danang has officially launched a tourism promotion office in South Korea, establishing a reciprocal channel to market destinations directly in each other’s markets.

The Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the initiative, implemented with the South Korean city of Daegu, forms part of its strategy to expand international cooperation and promote sustainable tourism development.

Under the arrangement, both cities have set up tourism information and promotion points in their respective localities, aimed at maintaining a stable presence in key source markets and enhancing information exchange.

In Danang, a Daegu tourism display has been installed at the city’s Tourism Promotion Centre, showcasing travel information and key products such as medical tourism, MICE services and international events.

Conversely, Danang’s tourism promotion office at the Daegu Tourist Information Centre highlights the city as a dynamic coastal destination, promoting resort holidays, golf, MICE offerings and distinctive cultural and culinary experiences tailored to the South Korean market.

Authorities said the model goes beyond image promotion, creating a regular platform linking regulators, businesses and markets, and helping translate cooperation agreements into practical outcomes.

Danang has signed 35 international cooperation agreements and is shifting from expanding partnerships to improving their quality. South Korea is among its most active partners, with ties to Daegu, Changwon, Gangwon and Gyeongsan across tourism, cultural exchange and innovation.

Following a visit to Danang by acting Daegu Mayor Kim Jeong-gi in January 2026, the establishment of reciprocal tourism promotion offices has been seen as a tangible step towards deepening bilateral cooperation.

Danang is expected to participate in further promotional and business networking activities in Daegu in July 2026, reinforcing its presence in South Korea, one of the city’s key international markets.
