An environment with favourable conditions for researching, working and improving knowledge will attract and keep young, educated talents in Vietnam.

It’s quite popular for many young Vietnamese graduates to look for well-paid jobs at foreign companies or to work abroad. However, there are still some who wish to stay in Vietnam to devote themselves to the nation and its development.

Some of those, such as, PhD Le Sy Vinh, Le Thi Phuong Quynh and Nghiem Thi Ha Lien, want to utilise their skills right here in Vietnam.

Vinh, a lecturer of IT Faculty, at the Technology University of Hanoi National University, has returned home to work after a long time living abroad.

PhD Le Sy Vinh

Vinh was born in 1980 and finished his IT doctorate thesis at Heinrich Heine University of Germany at the age of 25. Although he had many opportunities to get a very good job abroad, he decided to come back to Vietnam because he wanted to contribute to Vietnamese education development.

His works include two softwares which are an, “Analysis of species generated plants from DNA, protein molecule biological data,” and “Analysis of DNA, protein, genome molecule biological data,” which are under application in wide range of places by many scientists and world researching organisations. But Vinh, who is always modest, said, “I haven’t contributed anything to my country. It’s very important for those who return home to work hard with 200% of their capability.”

PhD. Le Thi Phuong Quynh

Phuong Quynh is working for the Chemical Institute of Natural Compounds, at the Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology. She set two goals for staying in Vietnam, devotion and researching. To deal with disadvantages of researching facilities, she cooperates with offshore colleagues to exchange knowledge then practices abroad.

She presented her doctorate thesis at Pierre et Marie Curie University when she was 29. She then came back home with an ambition that she will contribute to the country’s scienctific development. She is focusing her research on climate change, using chemistry and mathematics to present connections between water quality with river systems and impacts of human and nature in the Red River valley. Her researching subject is considered as a typical contribution to practical application for river systems in Vietnam and Asia.

According to PhD Quynh, it’s necessary to equip researching centers with advanced facilities in order to attract overseas Vietnamese young people to come back home and work.
