Famous Chinese film star Liu Xiao Ling Tong best known for his role as the Monkey King has said he wants to become a tourism ambassador for Vietnam in his country.
During his third visit to Vietnam ranging from April 4-7, Liu was invited by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s International Cooperation Department to attend the Vietnam International Travel Mart 2014 which is being held in Hanoi.
On the afternoon of April 6, Liu met with Vietnamese audience and said he wanted to become Vietnam’s tourism ambassador in China.
“If I’m selected as Vietnam’s tourism ambassador in China, I’ll introduce Vietnamese people and country to Chinese people so as to encourage them to visit Vietnam in the time to come,” Liu said.

He went on to say that previously he had visited Vietnam twice but the country has been changing so much due to fast urbanization. However, the Vietnamese audience’s love for him still remains.
“Yesterday was (the) Grave Visiting Festival in my homeland and the first anniversary of my father’s death but I still decided to come to Vietnam instead to speak about my aspiration to act as Vietnam’s tourism ambassador in China. I believe that my father would understand me,” he said.
Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the department confirmed to DtiNews that they’ve received Liu’s goodwill.

“Chinese star Liu Xiao Ling Tong loves to learn more about Vietnamese people. He has visited Vietnam several times. We’re aware that he wants to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism when he talked to the Voice of Beijing’s Vietnamese channel. He has met State President Truong Tan Sang and has ever showed his wish to contribute to promote Vietnamese tourism to Chinese people,” Tinh said.
He added that they have yet to come to the final decision on the issue as they are still waiting for ideas from the ministry’s council.
Concerning the issue, Vietnam’s former tourism ambassador Ly Nha Ky said Liu’s aspiration proves how Vietnam is esteemed by foreign people.
