A 750-metre walking street will open at Ninh Kieu Wharf in Can Tho City on November 29, operating from 6.30 pm to 10 pm every Saturday and Sunday.

The walking street will feature music and dance shows, fashion performances, folk games, chess competitions, children’s drum and trumpet displays, street art, OCOP stalls, traditional arts, book displays, live bands and calligraphy.

“This will help Ninh Kieu Wharf develop into a cultural and tourism landmark while creating commercial opportunities and supporting service and trade growth,” the Ninh Kieu Ward People’s Committee said.

Ward authorities said the walking street is being relaunched to create a distinctive cultural activity at night and a must-visit destination for residents and tourists. They added that it will provide a healthy leisure space, boost tourism appeal, extend visitor stays, encourage spending and support the night-time economy around Ninh Kieu Wharf.

Parking areas for bicycles, motorbikes and cars have been arranged near the walking street on Ngo Gia Tu, Ngo Huu Hanh, Chau Van Liem and Ngo Quyen streets, as well as at the former courthouse yard and the Xom Chai ferry terminal.

Night-time parking fees from 6 pm to 5 am will range from VND 2,000 to VND 30,000 depending on vehicle type. Residents living along the walking street will receive free parking passes.
