A driver in Binh Dinh Province is fined on June 1 for driving pickup truck along a beach in Quy Nhon City.
The 48-year-old was fined VND 6 million (approximately USD 235) and had two points deducted from his driving licence.
The penalty followed a video that went viral on Facebook on the morning of May 31, showing a blue pickup truck with visible licence plates driving along Quy Nhon Beach, near a crowded swimming area.
The footage triggered public criticism. Many called the act reckless and dangerous and urged authorities to take strong action.
Bui Duy Ninh, Chairman of Nguyen Van Cu Ward People’s Committee, confirmed that vehicles are strictly prohibited on the city’s beaches. Local police opened an investigation as soon as the video surfaced.
This is not the first incident of its kind. In an earlier case in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, a black pickup truck was filmed driving on the beach, sparking similar public outrage.
