The Hoi An Ancient Town Conservation Centre and Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Joint Stock Company unveiled the system on February 9 after signing a cooperation agreement to apply generative artificial intelligence in tourism services and heritage promotion.
The smart tourism package includes a multilingual, GenAI-powered audio guide, allowing visitors to scan QR codes on their smartphones to access curated content along designated routes, offering more vivid and personalised interpretation of the site.
Smart ticket kiosks have also been installed, offering multilingual support, international payment options and on-the-spot ticket printing. The centre said the kiosks would ease pressure on traditional counters and improve operational efficiency.
The system currently covers admission to the ancient town and automated audio guides, with plans to expand to nearby attractions.
Local officials said the initiative aimed to balance heritage conservation with digital innovation, supporting sustainable tourism while positioning Hoi An as a more visitor-friendly and modern destination.
