Workers started destroying the old building this morning, October 12

The 9,200 square-metre centre which is located in the heart of District 1 will be pulled down for the construction of a part of a metro line station and a 40-storey complex building.

Built in 1880, the building bears the characteristics of French architecture like those found on some other works in the city including Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Saigon Opera House.
