Located in Tay Ho District by the Red River, the village is known as Hanoi's long-standing peach blossom hub. However, Typhoon Yagi severely damaged the local peach orchards by raising the Red River's water levels.
In previous years, Phu Thuong peach blossom village was a favourite destination for photographers ahead of the Tet Lunar New Year. With hundreds of blooming peach trees, it was a popular destination for photographers. This year, only a few potted peach trees remain.
Because of this year's crop failure, the peach blossom pots lie unused in Phu Thuong.
Residents are trying to revive peach trees for the following crops.
Some peach garden owners have faced a complete loss this Tet season, while others have intercropped short-season flowers like daisies and violets alongside their peach trees.
Short-season vegetables like cabbage, kohlrabi, and lettuce are also planted alongside the newly transplanted peach trees.
A few peach trees in Phu Thuong village have started to bloom, having survived the impact of Typhoon Yagi in September.
