HCM City faces flooding risks during Tet

Many low-lying areas and those along rivers, canals, and streams in HCM City are expected to struggle with flooding during the Tet Lunar New Year holiday due to high tides.

The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Station has issued a forecast for HCM City's hydrological conditions from January 29 to February 2, 2025, covering the first five days of the Lunar New Year.

The current water level at most stations along the lower reaches of the Saigon-Dong Nai River is gradually receding, staying below alert level 1.

It is forecasted that during Tet, the water level at most stations in the lower reaches of the Saigon-Dong Nai River will increase to alert level 2.

Low-lying and riverside areas, including Huynh Tan Phat and Tran Xuan Soan streets in District 7, Le Van Luong, Dao Su Tich, and Pham Huu Lau in Nha Be District, and National Highway 50 in Binh Chanh District, are expected to be inundated.
