The wastewater has entered the Han River through multiple drains, including one beneath the Do Xu Bridge along Thang Long Road in Cam Le District.
The wastewater has contaminated Han River
The pollution has killed an amount of fish, resulting in the bad ordour.
The wastewater has also been discharged into the river through drains located between Nguyen Tri Phuong and Hoa Xuan bridges in Cam Le District, as well as those near the Danang Exhibition and Fair Centre.
The pollution has killed fish on the river
The sewage originates from residential areas along the river.
The Danang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has admitted the issue.
The drainage under Do Xu Bridge, managed by the Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Plant and in operation since 2007, has deteriorated, resulting in ineffective treatment.
The Danang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has attributed the sewage spill into the Han River to the recent heavy rainfall in the city, which has increased the flow in the drainage system.
The company has temporarily placed sand in the drains to help limit the wastewater spill, alongside the use of chemicals to reduce the odour.
