According to the Vinh Thai Commune People's Committee, the four-metre-long and 300-kilo whale body was found on a local beach by some fishermen at 7 pm on January 13.
"The whale might have died several days earlier, and the body is decomposing," the committee said.
Following local tradition, the authorities have brought the body to a whale cemetery for burial.
