Le Duc Man, 57, and his wife Do Thi Lan, 56, live in a small apartment with their two children in Son Tra District. The apartment has seriously deteriorated over time.
In 2021, Man felt tired and suffered from breathing difficulties. He was then diagnosed with liver cancer. He is undergoing chemotherapy, which is causing him great pain.

Early February this year, Lan experienced pains in her chest and was diagnosed with the third stage of breast cancer.
She had surgery to remove the tumour in her left breast. She is also taking chemotherapy treatment. Meanwhile, she has been struggling with a degenerative spine for 30 years.
Despite the illness, Lan tries to work as a cleaner for an apartment building with a very modest income per month.
The couple’s second daughter had to stop her studies to work to support the family.
Every month, the couple has to come to hospital for the chemotherapy, which is quite costly.
Le Nen from Tho Quang Ward said that Man’s family is among the poorest in the locality. Residents have only been able to provide limited support.
