On May 15, the animal was discovered at Nguyen Thi Trang’s house in Thu Duc City. According to Trang, son spotted a strange animal when sweeping the yard. The animal was caught and put in a cage.

The mouse lemur weighs around 300 grams


After researching online and learning that this was a rare mouse lemur, he contacted the city’s Forest Protection Department.

Trang said there were some gardens nearby and the animal may have come from them.

The mouse lemur weighs roughly 300 grams and is in stable health.

This species is facing severe extinction threats due to being hunted for medicinal purposes. Mouse lemurs are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam, and it is banned to capture or trade them.
