Vung Tau municipal government has decided to name one of its most beautiful roads after late General Vo Nguyen Giap.
Vo Nguyen Giap Road in Vung Tau City
The decision has made Vung Tau the first city in Vietnam to have a road named after the late military leader.
The road is a section of National Highway 51, which starts from a roundabout on Road 3/2 to Co May Bridge. This is a main gateway to Vung Tau City.
Chairman of Vung Tau City People’s Committee, Phan Hoa Binh, said, “We decided to name the road after late General Giap because he used to walk on the road when he visited the city in 1996. He said he really liked this road and used to take a walk here after bathing at Thuy Van beach.”
