The God of Wealth Day this year falls on February 25. According to some gold sellers, the revenue on this day alone can yeild as high as an entire fiscal quarter so they have prepared all manner of gold commodities over the past six months leading up to this day.

Gold bars, gold coins and 12 zodiac-related products are favoured. As 2018 is the year of the dog, gold dog products are seeing brisk sales. Many people buy dog statues to help guard their houses from dangers and bring prosperity in the new year.

Dong Thi Thuy from Ha Dong District, Hanoi, said she and her friends had already ordered gold dog products several days ago to avoid the crowds. Many people also decided to buy gold early to avoid queuing.

On February 22, Saigon Jewelry Company Limited store on HCM City's Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street had already run out of 37.5g gold dog products which costs more than VND37m (USD1,600). Other zodiac-related products sold out quickly.

Buyers with more limited budgets can choose affordable jewelry. Talking to Thanh Nien News, Linh from Hanoi said she was selling gold-bar-shaped rings for VND1.35m and gold bracelets for VND380,000 so her customers can have gold for luck for the new year.
