A man in HCM City has been given a 12-month flight ban for falsely claiming to have a grenade on a domestic flight.

When the flight was about ten minutes from takeoff from Danang International Airport for HCM City on July 21, he claimed there was a grenade in his luggage.

The flight crew then asked for a flight delay and airport security re-screened all passengers, luggage and cargo on the flight.

At 4:40 pm on the same day, the inspection was finished after the authorities did not find anything unusual.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has decided to ban the passenger from flying for 12 months, starting from July 30. Domestic airlines and foreign airlines with flights departing from airports in Vietnam are required not to carry the passenger during the period of the ban.
