Quang Ninh coal mine explosion kills four
Four workers have been killed in a coal mine explosion in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
Leaders of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group direct the rescue work on April 3.
The incident occurred early this morning, April 3, at a Thong Nhat Coal Company coal pit, an affiliate of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin).
According to the initial information, a methane leakage might have caused the explosion. Despite rescuers quickly arriving, four people were killed and seven others injured.
The workers who died were aged between 34 and 36 and came from Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho and Quang Ninh.
The injured were taken to Quang Ninh General Hospital.
Quang Ninh authorities have instructed Vinacomin to support the victims’ families.
Quang Ninh has reported several deadly coal mine accidents.
