A ceremony was held in Hanoi on March 6 to present the Golden Rose Cup Award to 100 outstanding Vietnamese women entrepreneurs in 2010.
The annual event was co-organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnamese Women’s Union to encourage and honour women entrepreneurs who have performed well to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
Present were the Party Politburo’s member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai; Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, representatives from various ministries and departments and hundreds of businesswomen across the country.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the great contributions of 100 outstanding women entrepreneurs to national construction and development in recent times.
VCCI chairman Vu Tien Loc who is head of the award’s presentation board said the number of women entrepreneurs account for 20 percent of the country’s total businesspeople. Their businesses specialise in trade, services, production, agricultural processing and seafood.
Tran Thi Thuy, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council, said the country has more than 100,000 businesses managed by women. The award provides fresh impetus for women entrepreneurs to contribute more to the socio-economic development.
