The Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam (VBS) and the National Traffic Safety Committee announced on Thursday that the ceremony will be held on August 30-31 at the Tu Dam Pagoda in Hue City. Over 1,500 monks and nuns will participate.

"The ceremony will pray for those who died as a result of traffic accidents and at the same time raise people's awareness on traffic safety and remind them to value their lives and others while on the road," said Most Venerable Thich Khe Chon, head of the VBS's Executive Board in Thua Thien-Hue Province.

According to the vice chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Le Kim Thanh, the country reported over 14,000 traffic accidents, killing over 6,200 people and injuring nearly 10,000 others in the past seven months of 2024.
