HCM City is facing high tides which would bring about severe inundation in some local areas.

According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre, the water level in most downstream areas of the Saigon-Dong Nai River System has risen rapidly over the past 24 hours.

At 4:30 today, February 12, the water level at Nha Be Station reached 1.70 metres and the figure was 1.71 metres at Phu An Station on Saigon River at 3.30 pm.

The peak of the high tides at stations in most downstream areas of the Saigon-Dong Nai River System has been forecasted to happen on February 12-13.

The tides would cause the serious flooding for low and riverside areas, including Huynh Tan Phat and Tran Xuan Soan streets in District 7, Binh Quoi in Binh Thanh, Ton That Thuyet and Nguyen Tat Thanh in District 4 and Le Van Luong and Nguyen Binh streets in Nha Be District.

HCM City often experiences high tides which cause serious flooding. It is common to see many local streets turned into rivers due to high tides.

The city is carrying out anti-flood projects to improve the situation.
