14 fishing boat crew rescued by German ship
Fourteen crewmembers of a Vietnamese fishing boat which sank off the southern province of Binh Dinh have been rescued by a German ship.
According to the Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue, the boat sank at 3.30 am on November 20 in an area 95 nautical miles northeast of Phu Quy Island. The 14 crew had to hold on to the floating part of the boat to await rescue amid strong winds and rough seas.
At roughly 12:20 on the same day, the German vessel Barzan saw the sinking boat and the struggling crew while travelling through the area. The crew were brought onboard their condition has improved.
