French trio to perform contemporary jazz

French contemporary jazz trio Cedric Hanriot will make their debut in Vietnam with a performance at HCM City\'s Institute for Culture Exchange with France (IDECAF) on next Tuesday.

Lead vocalist and pianist Cedric Hanriot, bass and contrabass player Bertrand Bernard and percussionist Jean-Baptiste Pinet will present pieces from Hanriot\'s latest album French Stories.

Pianist and composer Taylor Eigsti, who was twice nominated for a Grammy award, said: "The French Stories album is such a thrilling and unique blend, and a truly effective combination of strings and soundscapes. I really love what Cedric has put together. The album showcases all sorts of great aspects of Cedric\'s playing."

The trio claim audiences will be blown away by works composed by Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg and Edith Piaf in the form of afro-beat, hip-hop and electro music.

The French musicians will later perform at L\'Espace, Ha Noi, next Thursday.Both performances will start at 8pm. Tickets cost VND100,000 (USD4.8) and VND50,000 (USD2.4) (for members of IDECAF, L\'Espace and students).
