HCM City to spend VND237 billion to waive secondary school fees

HCM City will allocate VND237 billion (USD9.34 million) to waive tuition fees for secondary school students.

Under municipal authorities’ decision, around VND221 billion will be allocated for tuition fee exemptions for all 464,000 students at the city's public secondary schools during the 2024-2025 school year.

Specifically, the city will provide tuition fee support of VND60,000 per student per month for Group 1 and VND30,000 for Group 2.

Group 1 consists of students from schools in Thu Duc City, the districts of Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan, and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12.

Group 2  consists of students in districts of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be, and Can Gio.

The city will also allocate VND16 billion for tuition fee assistance to students at non-public secondary schools, with each student receiving VND30,000 per month.

HCM City has implemented tuition fee exemptions for public secondary school students since the 2023-2024 school year, receiving positive feedback from the public.
