Con Dao Museum temporarily closes to visitors

Con Dao Museum will temporarily suspend visits from next week to carry out repairs and preservation work.

The closure will start from 7 am on October 20.

The renovation aims to ensure the building’s safety, upgrade exhibition spaces and artefact preservation, and enhance the visitor experience in the near future.

During the halt, visitors to the Con Dao Special Zone can still explore other historical sites, such as the French Tiger Cages, one of the most notable landmarks associated with the Con Dao Prison system.

The Con Dao Museum, located on Nguyen Hue Street near the French Tiger Cages, was built between December 2009 and October 2010. Spanning more than 2 hectares and featuring 1,700 square metres of exhibition space, the museum preserves Vietnam’s cultural and historical heritage and supports Con Dao’s sustainable development.

With its modern, well-organised layout and a rich collection of over 2,000 documents and artefacts, the museum attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year.
