Representatives of Dantri and the Trangsparent Company present 21 Nazava water filters to students at three schools in Son Hoa Commune, Dak Lak Province on December 5.
Representatives of Dantri and the Trangsparent Company presented 21 Nazava water filters, worth VND 49.89 million (approximately USD 2,000), to students at three schools in Son Hoa Commune, Dak Lak Province including Son Ha Nursery School, Son Ha Primary School and Cung Son 1 Primary School on December 5.
Local authorities reported that storms and floods struck the area in mid-November, submerging 3,888 homes, destroying 36, damaging more than 4,800 hectares of crops, and damaging infrastructure. Five school sites in Son Hoa were flooded 3-5 metres deep, including the three schools now receiving the filters, causing damage to teaching equipment and water facilities.
With local water supplies severely contaminated after the floods, providing the 21 filters gives children access to clean, safe drinking water. The filters are capable of purifying rainwater, pond water or well water into potable water without boiling, according to the company.
The company's director Nguyen Thi Thu Trang said they were pleased to partner with Dantri to support pupils in the flood zone. In a previous aid effort in June 2024, the company donated 100 water-filter kits to ethnic minority communities in Ea Kao Ward in Dak Lak.
The head of Cung Son 1 Primary School, Huynh Thi Thanh Thu, recalled that floodwater had risen more than three metres, flooding the ground floor, a level of damage not seen before. Water contamination forced students to bring their own drinking water until the new filters arrived. She said the donation was a very valuable, practical gift for the school’s pupils.
Vice Chairwoman of Son Hoa Commune People's Committee, Le Thi Bich Hau, expressed deep gratitude to Trangsparent and Dantri for promptly addressing the water crisis faced by students in flooded areas and offering equipment that helps reduce the toll of the disaster for local families.
