Six poor households in Phu Tho receive new homes with media support

Six poor families in Phu Tho have received newly built homes funded by reader donations, offering stable housing and renewed hope as part of a wider nationwide charity programme.

Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper has inaugurated six newly built homes for six poor households in Quyet Thang Commune, Phu Tho Province, at a ceremony held on January 13.

The houses were constructed with financial support from Dantri/Dtinews readers and assistance from local authorities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Xuan Toan, deputy editor-in-chief of Dantri/Dtinews, said the newspaper believed that secure housing would give families a foundation to continue living, hoping and overcoming hardship.

Also attending the event, Le Minh Tien, chair of the Quyet Thang Commune People’s Committee, expressed appreciation for the support and solidarity shown by Dantri and its readers nationwide.

"For poor households in the area, a solid home had been a long-held dream they had scarcely dared to imagine," he said. "Timely support from the newspaper and its readers had helped families gain confidence to stabilise their lives."

Representing the recipient families, Bui Thi Con shared a brief and heartfelt message, saying her family had never imagined owning such a house. With stable shelter at last, they no longer feared storms and rain and would work hard to repay the kindness of donors.

At the event, using funds donated by Dantri/Dtinews readers, organisers presented gifts to the six households receiving the charity homes, each worth VND 1 million (USD 38).

In addition, 20 scholarships were awarded to disadvantaged students in Quyet Thang Commune who had shown determination in their studies, each valued at VND 500,000 (USD 19).

On the same occasion, Phu Tho Provincial Police Department also delivered gifts to local families.

In response to the government’s campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing, Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper has set a target of building 200 homes for poor and near-poor households nationwide during 2024 and 2025.

Since April 2024, the newspaper has launched construction on 250 homes, of which 211 have already been completed and handed over.
