Philanthropists gave total VND39,130,000 (USD1,875) to help a woman who has suffered debilitating pain from osteitis and myelitis for 13 years.

On May 31, Dantri Newspaper gave the donation to Nguyen Thanh Hien, a 25 year old woman living in Nghe An Province, who not only has to bear continual pain, but also the threat of having her legs amputated. The procedure to save her legs comes with a pricetag of VND500 million.
Dantri readers have contributed a large number of small contributions, and those who could not afford to send money sent letters of encouragement.
One reader wrote, "Dear Hien, though I can't help you much, I hope my little present helps a bit and also that more people will be able to help you overcome your illness. The human spirit has a way of overcoming tremendous difficulties."
Hien was moved upon receiving the aid of so many other people from across the country and said they have helped her become more confident about her future and think positively on her life.
"I don't know what to say except that I am sincerely grateful to you all. The only thing that has got me through the last 13 years has been belief and hope. I think that all the encouragement and help that I have received may help cure my disease," Hien said.
