Earlier, Dantri/Dtinews published an appeal calling for donations of materials, equipment, books, and learning tools to help the school recover from the September 29 flash flood.
The flood submerged the entire Yen Hoa Secondary School under more than one metre of muddy water. Around 1,000 cubic metres of mud and debris swept into the schoolyard, damaging furniture, teaching equipment, boarding facilities, and thousands of textbooks.
During the handover ceremony, Nguyen Cong Cuong, chairman of the PETROSETCO Trade Union, said that employees had each contributed one day’s salary to help residents overcome post-flood difficulties.
“This is both our sentiment and our social responsibility in community support, especially in education and talent development, so that students in flood-affected areas can continue their studies under better conditions,” Cuong said.
Nguyen Dang Huy, principal of Yen Hoa Secondary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the teachers and students for the timely support and encouragement from Dtinews and PETROSETCO.
