Tran Cong Canh has spent his own money hiring two flights to help transport around 400 people to Quang Nam Province from HCM City
Canh, 76, said that through the association of Quang Nam people in HCM City, he knew that many people are facing difficulties due to the pandemic.
The two charter flights brought roughly 400 people to return Quang Ngai from HCM City with the priority given to the elderly, pregnant women, ill people and children.

According to Canh, he left his hometown when he was young so he understood the feeling of people who have to live far away from home, especially amid numerous challenges caused by the pandemic.
Since his retirement, Canh has paid more attention to charity activities.
In the country’s first Covid-19 wave last year, Canh granted VND540 million (USD23,478) for Quang Nam’s Covid-19 fight from his association. He and the association also provided VND520 million and five tonnes of different kinds of goods for the province in dealing with flooding at the end of last year.
He said that he will continue his charity work until he can.
