A young couple in Quang Binh Province is calling for financial help to treat their five-month-old baby who is struggling with a big inborn tumour in his leg and other diseases.

Nguyen Chi Linh is the son of a couple in Quang Trach District’s My Trach Commune. He is under treatment at Dong Hoi Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital.
Linh had a big tumour in his right leg when he was born and was compelled to be hospitalised for several months.
Due to Linh’s serious condition, his parents were told to take him to a better hospital. This will also mean longer medical treatment and consequently much higher fees.
In order to ensure continued treatment for the boy, the couple had to sell their buffalo--their only asset--and borrow from banks and other sources.
Three months after their son entered hospital, their bank debts have reached nearly VND50 million (USD2,364).
The father finds helpless to cure his baby
Unable to find more money, the couple was compelled to bring their son home but of course he continued to suffer chronic pain.
Once again the couple had to borrow money to send their baby to the Dong Hoi Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital where they were told he was suffering from serious pneumonia and kidney problems.
Due to a lack of sleep and other issues resulting from her constant care of the child, Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Linh’s mother became exhausted and had to undergo medical treatment.
“I don’t know how to save my wife and son,” Huong, Linh’s father said.

Ha Cong Thanh, doctor at the hospital said they are trying to cure Linh’s pneumonia before sending him to a bigger hospital to have the tumour removed.
“Doctors are discussing solutions to deal with Linh’s kidney problem. Treatment for him would take time and cost a lot,” he added.
