Mai Anh's family receives the donation
On October 10, DTiNews' reporters, chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee and chairman and secretary of Cam Lac Commune People's Committee arrived at Trung Doai Village to give a total of VND142,300,000 (USD6,800) to Mai Anh's family.
When the reporters arrived, Mai Anh's mother, Phan Thi Hang, cried saying she was admitted to hospital again because Mai Anh suffered from a swollen belly and hard breathing just after a few days she was discharged. "I've just asked a friend to look after her while I come back to take care of my youngest child." she said.
Hang said many people have visited and given them VND50 million in total. "Previously, we didn't have more than VND1,000 in our pocket and generous people now give us so much money. We can only say thank you, I hope Mai Anh will get well soon to say thanks to everybody."
Chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Hai also sent his gratitude to kind-hearted readers and asked communal authorities to help Mai Anh's family as much as they can.
Mai Anh struggles with life and death
In the past eight years, Mai Anh has been struggling with pain after she was diagnosed with congenital Hirschsprung's disease which makes her belly swell and causes her breathing difficulties. Mai Anh's family have been seeking help from every hospital but hope for a cure is slight and the family is burdened with a huge cost of treatment. In the meantime, her family is poor and Mai Anh's little sister also get sick all the time.
