After 6 hours, a life-saving heart operation for shoeshine boy Nguyen Van Sao, was completed successfully on April 12 at the Hanoi Heart Hospital.
Finally, the happiest moment in the Shoeshine boy's life came when he was called to operation room No.1. Many years ago, his family and Sao could not think that he would have a chance to survive. Sao earned money on his own by shining shoes on streets. He tried to save each penny to cover his daily expenses and send some to his grandmother.
His story was reported by DTiNews and many compassionate readers were filled with compassion when hearing of his difficult life. Thanks to financial support from them, Sao now can have enough money for his big heart operation. They have help him to go back to a normal life.
“Sao is living with love and care from the social community,” said Ngo Thi Bich Loc, who has been taking care of him.
His heart now has become normal after waiting for 17 years.
Speaking to DTiNews after the operation, Nguyen Sinh Hien, Deputy Manager of the Hanoi Heart Hospital said this was a very difficult case as it took 6 hours for the whole process. Fortunately, they made it. Sao’s heart now is normal.
After 10 days, Sao will be discharged from the hospital as long as there are no complications.
