A father in Nam Dinh Province is in a fight against cancer so he can keep his son in school.
That's wife cares for him at home
Nguyen Van That was diagnosed last year with throat cancer.
His wife, Pham Thi Hue, said, "It seemed like everything collapsed. The whole family was shocked."
"He is a construction worker. Despite hard work, he said he felt proud because he can take care of his own family. This illness came so suddenly."
Because he did not have enough money for hospital, That decided to stay home and used herbal medicine, but his health got worse. The family borrowed money to send him to hospital.
That said, "Sometimes I really want milk, but I know we don't have much money left. My illness is a burden to everyone."

His oldest son, Nguyen Van Duc, who is in 10th grade, dropped out of school to find work without telling his parents.
"At first, he was absent for days then returned to school so we thought that he was sick. But then we found out about his family's situation and that Duc do not want to go to school anymore," said his teacher, Nguyen Thi Yen.
"He is a hard-working student so we persuaded and got him to return to school. However his family is still in a very difficult situation."
That said he did not want to go to hospital but wanted help for his son.
Do Dang Thang, the head of Unit 10 in Yen Chinh Commune, said That is the sole breadwinner of the family.
"That and his wife do not have any extra income and now they have to deal with this illness. They can't even ensure daily meals, let alone paying for treatments," Thang said.
