Flood-hit residents in Hung Nguyen Nam Commune receive the donations from Dantri/Dtinews' readers on October 20.
Tran Duy Tuyen, head of Dantri/Dtinews' Central and Central Highlands Branch, on behalf of the newspaper's readers, presented VND 100 million (approximately USD 3,900) to assist residents affected by storm Bualoi in Nghe An Province on October 20.
In Hung Nguyen Nam Commune, the event was attended by Standing Deputy Secretary Thai Huy Dung of the local party committee, and commune Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Huu Phuc.
According to Phuc, storm Bualoi caused severe damage to many households, including one house completely collapsed and several others with damaged or unroofed structures.
Representing Dtinews readers, Tuyen and local authorities handed VND 75 million (approximately USD 2,900) to 15 severely affected households in Hung Nguyen Nam Commune, each receiving VND 5 million (approximately USD 195).
Among the recipients was Nguyen Thi Hoa, 66, a resident of Hamlet 1A, Hung Nguyen Nam Commune, who could not hold back tears as she received the aid.

Hoa lost her left arm in an accident seven years ago, and life has been extremely difficult since. She lives with her daughter and grandchild in an old one-storey house that was severely damaged in the recent storm.
“The roof was completely blown away, and the kitchen collapsed,” she said emotionally, adding that she would use the donation from Dtinews readers and local support funds to repair her home.
On behalf of the commune authorities, Thai Huy Dung expressed gratitude to Dtinews readers for their meaningful assistance to storm-affected households.
Dtinews readers’ gifts were also delivered on the afternoon of October 20, to five families in Vinh Hung Ward, Nghe An Province.
Speaking at the event, Tuyen shared: “We hope this support from Dtinews readers will help local residents overcome their difficulties after the storm and soon stabilise their lives.”
