At the gift-giving ceremony on January 27, Pham Dinh Manh, a representative of Dantri, said the event was part of a programme to support 1,000 households badly hit by natural disasters in 2025 across northern, central and Central Highlands provinces.

Each gift package included VND 1 million in cash and two boxes of Tet sweets worth VND 100,000.

“These gifts carry the care and solidarity of our readers, conveyed through Dantri to families who have suffered heavy losses from recent floods and storms,” Manh said.

Earlier, following the floods, Dantri had also delivered six tonnes of rice to affected households in the area on October 14, 2025.

Manh expressed gratitude to benefactors and readers for their continued support, as well as to Cao Bang authorities for facilitating the newspaper’s social welfare activities.

Speaking on behalf of local authorities, Dam Thu Hang, party secretary of Hoa An Commune, said the area was hit by two storms in 2025, causing estimated losses of more than VND 43 billion.

“In that context, timely support from agencies, organisations and generous individuals nationwide has helped residents gradually overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives,” Hang said.

She described Dantri’s Tet 2026 gift programme as highly meaningful, helping residents welcome the Lunar New Year with greater confidence and warmth.

Among the recipients was Trieu Thi Nguyet, 60, whose family lost all their crops after two storms late last year. Their only pig was also culled due to African swine fever, making the support particularly valuable.

“I will use the money to buy piglets,” Nguyet said.

Dantri/Dtinews would continue delivering Tet gifts to flood-affected communities nationwide and called on readers to keep supporting efforts to help vulnerable families enjoy a warmer and more secure Lunar New Year.
