Working with the Police Academy under the Ministry of Public Security and Linh Son Ward authorities, Dantri/Dtinews held the gift handover ceremony on February 2, providing support to families facing hardship in the locality.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Tuan Hop, a representative of Dantri, said 2025 saw consecutive storms and floods across northern, central and Central Highlands provinces, causing widespread damage.

In Thai Nguyen, when storm Matmo hit in October 2025, Dantri reporters were on the ground to provide timely coverage and later delivered 10 tonnes of rice to affected residents on behalf of readers. The newspaper also mobilised donations to build new homes for eight families whose houses collapsed in floods in Phu Binh Commune, with several homes now completed or nearing completion.
To help communities heavily affected by natural disasters in 2025, Dantri Editor-in-chief Pham Tuan Anh approved a programme to distribute 1,000 gift packages to households in flood hit areas nationwide ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year or Tet Festival.
Nguyen Tuan Hop thanked readers and benefactors for their continued support, noting that 100 of the 1,000 gift packages were presented to residents in Thai Nguyen. Each package included VND 1 million (USD 39) in cash and a Tet gift box worth VND 100,000 (USD 4).
Nguyen Anh Tuan, standing deputy party secretary of Linh Son Ward, expressed appreciation for the support from organisations, donors and sponsors.

Among the recipients was Pham Thi Hien, 90, from a near poor household. She said she was delighted to receive the Tet gift and planned to use the money to buy new clothes for the holiday.
Nguyen Thi Doi, 55, whose family was severely affected by floods in 2025, said floodwaters had risen close to head height, forcing her family to shelter with neighbours for five days. Many household items were badly damaged after the water receded.

She said the gift from Dantri readers would be used to buy food and prepare her home for Tet.
Alongside Dantri’s programme, Linh Son ward also hosted a Tet for the poor campaign in 2026, with participation from Military Region 1, the Police Academy, Thai Nguyen Youth Union, Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, Agribank Nam Thai Nguyen branch, VietinBank Thai Nguyen branch and other benefactors. In total, 250 poor and near poor households received Tet gifts at the event.
Earlier, Dantri also delivered Tet gifts to disadvantaged families in Cao Bang, Khanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa and Lao Cai.
