After publishing the story of a small child suffering from cancer in his jaw, DTiNews sent VND5 million (USD240) in urgent support for his family.
Huy suffers from large tumor
The 3-year-old boy is Le Minh Huy, from Tu Ngoc A Village, Quang Nam Province. Huy and his mother, Vo Thi Thu Kieu, have been staying at the Department of Oncology, at Hue Central Hospital.
"The tumor grew so fast. Two months ago, we just thought that he had a toothache and now he has to be fed through his nose because the tumor has taken up his mouth," Kieu said.
Doctors from five different departments of the hospital held a meeting to discuss Huy's case. According to the doctors, sarcoma had already spread to Huy's lower jaw, cheeks and part of the tongue. Bone loss was also detected in his lower jaw, the bone around eye sockets and several parts of the skull. Doctors had to give the young boy morphine to ease the pain.
The tumor grows quickly inside Huy's mouth
Dr. Pham Mai Thuy commented that Huy is suffering from Ewing's Sarcoma and he might not make it. Currently, Huy is being treated with chemotherapy to prevent the tumor from metastasising to lungs.
Dr. Dang Hoang and said Huy had scheduled surgery before, which they could not carry out because of the tomour's fast growth. He said, "By using chemotherapy we hope the tumor will go into remission, but his chances are pretty low. We can only do our best."

Because Huy is under six years old, his treatment is free of charge. However, the poor family must pay for food while supporting a second child who is 9 months old.
On November 27, DTiNews transferred VND5 million to Huy's family, which was urgently needed.
