A family in need

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha suffers from heart disease and rheumatism but still has to work hard to bring up her two children and support her paralysed husband.

Ha’s husband was a labourer and she works as a civil servant. With their modest income, they borrowed money to buy a house. Her husband suddenly suffered from a brain stroke four years ago. Then, all the financial burdens were placed on her shoulders.

“I have nobody to help shoulder our burdens,” said Ha

Ha tries her best to borrow money in hopes that she can cure her husband but his health cannot seem to improve. Eventually, she stopped taking him to the hospital and decided she would tend to him at home by herself.

At present, one of Hung’s eyes is impaired and he is totally paralysed. Ha has to handle all the housework and her husband’s personal activities as well as being the breadwinner. Moreover, due to his diseases, she often has to bear occasional anger from her husband.

Ha herself suffers from heart diseases and rheumatism but tries to forget about her problems and take care of her family. Her company also helps her by reducing her working hours so that she has more time to look after her ill husband. Her son is studying at a college and her daughter should be in 5th grade, but due to the financial difficulties of the family, her daughter has to discontinue her studies.
