A poor family in Ha Tinh Province is calling for financial help to treat a mother who is struggling with cancer and her small daughter with cerebral palsy.

The family lives in Yen Binh Village, Can Loc District.
After retiring from the military, Tran Dinh Duong returned to the village to marry Nguyen Thi Hien and they had their first daughter, Thuy Hang. Three years later, they face a huge challenge since their second child, Mai Huong, was born.
Her limbs were deformed, and she was constantly sick. In addition she had very little appetite. The parents were stunned when doctors said Huong had cerebral palsy. For five years, they have had to borrow money from anywhere they could with the hope that they could cure their daughter, but Huong's situation has not improved.
Despair came when Hien suddenly got sick six months ago. At first, they thought she was just exhausted from stress and hard work, but her health continued to deteriorate. When Duong brought her to hospital, she was diagnosed with cancer.
Duong holds to his wife
Duong mortgaged their house for VND60 million to pay medical bills. "Doctors said treatment would be costly because my wife would need a number of radiation treatments. I feel helpless." Duong said.
Many empathised with their situation, and the school decided to lower some fees, but Hang, who is in third grade, might still have to drop out. Le Thi Ha, Hang's teacher at Quang Loc Primary School, said, "Hang is one of our best students. She has earned many awards and and certificates."

Now Hang has to do all the housework while taking care of her mother and sister. She often uses her achievements at school in to encourage her mother.
Hang's teacher also said that she prayed for a miracle every night so Hang would not have to drop out.
