Vo Thi Hue, 62, in Quang Ninh District’s Xuan Ninh Commune is in despair when her husband Pham Xuan Ninh, 66, is facing lung cancer and her son Nguyen Xuan Hien, 27, is suffering from kidney failure.

Over the past five years, Hien has been taken to Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital for haemodialysis three times per week.
The treatment has been quite costly, meanwhile, the family mainly depends on farming for their income.
Some months ago Ninh was diagnosed with lung cancer, adding more pressure on the family.

Every day, Hue has to pick up mussels in a local river to sell at markets to earn more money.
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused more difficulties to her family. Hue has to seek assistance from her neighbours.
These days, Ninh’s condition has worsened with pain.
Nguyen Thi Anh Hong, head of Xuan Ninh Commune’s Women Association, said that Hue’s family is among the poorest in the locality. She hoped that the public could help them.
