Whale found dead on Quang Binh Beach

A whale weighing more than two tonnes has been found dead on a beach in the central province of Quang Binh.

The seven-metre fish was detected on the beach in Quang Tho Ward, Ba Don Town this morning, March 3. It already has signs of decay.

According to local residents, whales are often found dead on the beach, including ones weighing up to 10 tonnes. They were then buried in the local customs.

Whale worshipping is common among Vietnamese fishermen who believe that the whale's spirits protect them at sea. When a whale is found dead, local residents will bring it to the cemetery for burial.
