More than 200 domestic and foreign scholars assembled at seventh International Workshop on the East Sea held in Vung Tau city on November 23 to share information on recent developments in the East Sea and discuss ways to step up regional cooperation.
More than 30 reports, focusing on new developments, relations among big countries, international law, future prospects, solutions and cooperation in the East Sea will be presented during the event.
The East Sea issue will be analyzed from different angles including politics, diplomacy and law aiming to seek opportunities and initiatives to strengthen mutual understanding and collaboration in the waters based on the principles of international law.
The workshop will host the first ever Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP) to build a network of young researchers on the East Sea and put forth new collaboration initatives for peace and development.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Dang Quy Binh, Director of the Diplomatic Acedamy of Vietnam (DAV), raised his concerns over the recent complicated developments in the East Sea and called on the parties concerned to ponder over mutual benefits and follow mutinationally-recognised legal frameworks and practices for peace purposes.
The two-day event is co-hosted by the DAV, the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association (VLA).
