Vinamilk imports 400 cows from New Zealand

This is the first cow shipment out of a total of 5 shipments that Vinamilk is going to import in 2010. The cows were imported directly from a New Zealand company, which specialises in supplying dairy cows.

These cows are of the Holstein Friesian (HF) breed and had been selected carefully by specialists and certified by the New Zealand Veterinary Quarantine before being raised in the company's farms. The cows went through special checkups by being isolated in quarantine camps, and assessed for fertility by the company's veterinarian experts, using specialised ultrasound machine.

After that, 400 cows that met requirements in appearance (true to the HF type, weight, nail, skin colour, bone frame), health (physical state, posture, eating behaviour, quality of eyes and nose), fertility and genetic potential, were then selected to be imported.

Vinamilk had prepared for the newly arrived cows a sufficient supply of food (green and Alfalfa dry food), medicine and necessary vaccines (imported from America), and modern breeding facilities (antiseptic disinfection insulation and cooling system).

This imported herd of cows will be raised in Vinamilk's Nghe An dairy farm under strict direction of dairy cow specialists from New Zealand.

Through the import of cows from New Zealand, Vinamilk has continued to proactively assert its aim to produce the best quality milk for the consumers in the Vietnam market.
