The Ministry of Transport has proposed the prime minister grant business permission for Vietstar Airlines to begin operations.

For the first five years, Vietstar Airlines will operate Boeing 737 and the Airbus 320 in its initial 3-plane fleet. It is also negotiating a deal to rent three Boeing 737s.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the airlines has developed a detailed business strategy and clear goals for the five-year period. The new airline aims to develop domestic north-south routes, and routes to Northeast and Southeast Asia regions.
"Vietstar Airlines will join the domestic market as the first air carrier combining transportation of both passengers and goods," said Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat.
Vietstar Airlines is a joint venture between Aircraft Engineering Company A41, the Vietnam Air Force, Vietstar Airways and the Tin Thanh Express Company. It is the country's seventh domestic airline.
