Vietravel Airlines to open two routes to China

Vietravel Airlines plans to open new routes to Shenzhen and Macau, China, this year after adding another Airbus A321 to support its fleet expansion and growing international operations.

The carrier said it expects to begin operating flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Shenzhen in August, followed by a Hanoi-Macau route later this year.

The newly acquired Airbus A321, configured with 230 seats, entered service on Tuesday, bringing the airline's owned fleet to four aircraft.

The addition marks a step in Vietravel Airlines' plan to expand its fleet, with seven more aircraft expected to join operations in the second half of 2026.

Nguyen Tuan Anh, the airline's deputy chief executive, said the latest aircraft acquisition reflected preparations for the peak summer travel season and broader expansion plans.

Alongside fleet growth, the airline aims to invest in operational capabilities and workforce development to support future expansion, he said.

Vietravel Airlines has also accelerated digital transformation efforts, including the launch of a mobile check-in application featuring biometric verification to shorten airport processing times.

The carrier currently operates domestic routes linking major economic and tourism centres and has gradually expanded internationally.

In addition to scheduled services between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok, the airline launched charter flights linking Hanoi and Lanzhou in China's Gansu Province on June 20.

Earlier this month, Vietravel Airlines also launched a new Hanoi-Buon Ma Thuot route and resumed services between Hanoi and Cam Ranh ahead of the summer travel peak.
