Vietnam to prepare repatriation flights from India for emergencies

Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet announced during a press meeting on April 29.

Due to the complicated situation in India and other countries in Southeast Asia, the ministry has asked diplomatic missions overseas to monitor the development of the pandemic closely and have plans to support Vietnamese nationals overseas such as setting up more communication channels and providing necessities.

Addressing the rumour that there would be a repatriation flight from India on May 19, Viet said Vietnamese and Indian authorities are working to prepare repatriation flights in case of emergency. Vietnamese nationals in India can go to the embassy's official website or hotline at +91-7303-625-588 for more information.

There are about 100 Vietnamese living in India. As of now, Vietnam and India have worked together on repatriation flights to bring nearly 1,000 Vietnamese home.
