The PM on Friday approved a proposal from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs for the Tet and National Day holidays next year.
For the Tet 2024 holiday, civil servants and state public employees will have seven days off from February 8 to 14, 2024.
Employees who work overtime or night shifts during the holiday will receive a minimum wage of 300 percent, not including their regular daily wages. Foreign workers in Vietnam, aside from the annual public holidays, will also have an additional day off for New Year and their national days.
The PM also approved a four-day break for the National Day holiday next year, from August 31 to September 3, 2024.
Tet is the biggest and most important festival in Vietnam. It is also a prolific season for retail and travel businesses as the consumption and excursion demand is high during this time.
The 2024 Lunar New Year’s Day falls on February 10.
