Vietnam reports six more imported Covid-19 patients, total tally reaches 2,830

Two foreign men and six Vietnamese people who recently landed in Vietnam from abroad have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of patients in the country to 2,830, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the four Vietnamese patients include two men and two women aged between 23-37. They recently returned from Japan, Russia, and Cambodia to Danang and Ho Chi Minh cities and Khanh Hoa and An Giang provinces. All of them were sent to local quarantine areas upon arrival and are now being treated at local hospitals.

The Indian man, 37, and the Filipino man, 50, recently arrived in Khanh Hoa and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces and have been sent to local quarantine areas upon arrival. They both tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on April 22 and are now being treated at local hospital and healthcare centre.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,830.

As of 6 pm on April 23, a total of 2,490 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, over 39,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
